Expressing gratitude

It’ll probably not surprise you to hear, that British people say ‘Thank you’ more than any other nationality. No shame in that I hear you say. In this video, we are going to be looking at how you can express your gratitude. Depending on the situation or who we speak to, we can choose which words we use. First of all, some informal phrases:

Thanks a lot

Thank you very much

Cheers!

Great!

I owe you one.

Here is how we can respond to their appreciation:

Don’t mention it.

No worries.

Not at all.

No problem.

Happy to help.

The following phrases are for more formal matters:

I will be eternally grateful for your assistance.

I wholeheartedly appreciate your support.

I am very thankful for everything you’ve done.

We would like to express our gratitude.

Thank you for your kind consideration.

And these are the ways we can formally respond:

You’re very welcome.

It was my pleasure.

It was the least I could do.

Happy to be of service.

The pleasure was all mine.

The final phrases might seem slightly over the top, but are great ways of showing your appreciation:

Thanks a million.

Massive thanks

You’re a life saver.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

You’re an absolute star.
