Thank you for finding my website and reading my first blog post. I’ve been writing bits and pieces all my life, but only since the pandemic started, have I published any of my content, where it can be seen ‘out there’. By the way, that’s not me in the photo, but the French lady looks a lot better than me!
It really all started, when my sons and I decided to launch a YouTube channel in April 2020, when my alter-ego, Ed, was born. I wrote, and even sang on those videos. I found that forcing myself to write the short stories, as well as the vocabulary and grammar explanations, really took my mind off what was going on in the world at that time. Parallel to YouTube, we also decided to launch an Instagram page, to post accompanying posts, relevant to the videos we posted on a weekly basis. Unbelievably, we have over 80,000 followers at the time of writing this. Although I am currently inactive on YouTube – our subscription number is going up every week. I’m considering getting back up into making videos, without Ed in the future. Let’s just say, watch this space! But in the meantime, the pressure I will put on myself to write these blogs, will replace the videos.
My intentions for my blogs, will be to post content on a regular (will aim at weekly), of everything surrounding the English language. I will publish blogs on learning tips, false friends, online learning and the possible predicaments of using online translators.
I will publish in both German, as well as English, for those of you who’d like to use my blogs for practising your reading comprehension. I will give everyone the opportunity to subscribe to my newsletter, so they can receive my latest blog posts by email. Thanks for reading, and feel free to post ideas of what you’d like to see here.
